Acoustic slab pedestrian detection

Invisible and unaffected by external interference, the APS acoustic pedestrian detector provides highly accurate pedestrian counting.
The detector consists of one or more buried sensors; the sensors, which are sensitive to micro-variations in pressure, detect pedestrian footfall. An advanced algorithm ensures that only one person is counted, even if they step on the sensor more than once. For wide pathways, the dimensions and spacing means that several people can be counted whilst maintaining an accuracy of +/- 5%. The equipment requires no external power source, and has a battery life of ten years.

Several sensors can be set in an array spaced 10 cm (3.8 in) apart to distinguish between each pedestrian. Natural or shifted obstacles can also be placed between the sensors to delineate the passages to be taken individually.
